Wintersday Finale Odd vs. Even
I really didn't want to make a thread about this, but I'm confused.
I went to Kamadan AD 5, 7, 9 and 11 right now and find everyone on Dwanya. I've been celebrating Wintersday since the very first one and from what I recall:
- Odd Districts go Grenth
- Even Districts go Dwanya.
That way, everyone can get both hat/mask or whatever item acquired without confusion, but right now, it's like everyone has chosen to just go Dwanya and not give a GO RED ENGINE.
So what's the deal!?

Peoples are silly is whats up.
However, the germans seem to have it right. German dist 3 is grenth from the looks of it.

My fiancée and I have been to over 20 districts in LA and every even district that we tried was Grenth. We go annoyed and tried a few odd districts, which were also Grenth.
We finally found one after ~10 minutes of searching.
People are RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing stupid.

when you load in kamadan you load into one of a few spots---one of which is on the rings--could be people loading and just not moving.

Everything seemed to be normal in the EU districts. It's not hard to work out where you should be standing as people are more than happy to point it out (guildies/allies should be informing too), plus, oh I don't know... THERE'S THE CLUE OF WHERE A MASS OF PEOPLE ARE STANDING WHEN YOU ZONE?!
People be trollin' because they think it's the last serious Wintersday. Idgaf, I have my hat. Shame they have to be douchey about it for those less informed.
Actually, I take that back. When into Spamadan EE1 to afk for a Grenth hat, asked why everyone was standing in Dwayna circles and got called an autistic inbred retard because I questioned why people are bucking tradition this year. So yeah, trolls be trollin'. <3 the report button

Eh I didn't change districts fast enough after screwing around in LA. I blame the alcohol on my lack of thinking but I'll just afk, sleep, and just get the hat when I wake up.

Having certain districts be a certain hat has made it extremely easy to get the hat you desire for the past 5 years. If you want a dwayna hat, you go even, you want grenth, you go odd. By doing whatever you want you end up forcing people who want a certain hat to spend an extra 10 minutes just to find a freakin district with the hat you want.
There is a reason the community has the unwritten rule of odd vs even. It makes everyones life a helluva lot easier. Doing whatever you want and ignoring that unwritten rule is harming other people's experience. Stop thinking for yourself and start thinking for the playerbase as a whole.

Hm. I had assumed that everyone was just zoned/AFK. I'm a little disappointed there's so much chaos just for the sake of being a douche. How/why has so much of the community decided to be douches at once?

Firstly - its a player tradition which dists are used which was gd and anet never set dists.
Secondly - yea there are a lot of idiots/trolls/spoilsports in gw who do like to screw things for others after they have hats themselves.
Last few yrs ( dunno abou10t this yr as not got into gw yet ) i do recall most dists had afkers on the rings all of the time and was a gd indication before the rounds started which dist was for who ( about the only time afkers in events are usefull lol )

Personally I liked the added chaos this year. I've always disliked the blech player rule and the boring one sided race. I think it's exciting looking at the tally as it goes up and wondering who is going to win. ArenaNet went to the trouble of programming in a mini game into the finale and players turned it into an afk fest as usual. If you want to guarantee whatever hat you want, why shouldn't you have to work at it a little harder? Why does everyone else have to conform to what you want to happen? Presents are easier to get this year so there are less afkers sitting around guaranteeing whatever district wins.
I had a lot more fun this year.

Sadly, some folk don't worry about community and think that it's fair game to stuff things for new players and old alike - probably the same mindset that 'creates' twinks and ganking in Aion.
It's certainly handy to be able to do a hat run first thing on New Years Day and then get on with family/RL stuff - not everyone can spend the day chasing districts. We always let our Guildies know of the 'community' way of doing it - new players don't know otherwise and at the end of the day, why on New Years Day do folk want to make other players lives a pain?

Hmm, had to change to German districts instead of Euro english to find most players being on the recommended circles.

I had to move to International 1.
For some reason people decided to go all random.
There are exceptions, of course, but I couldn't find a Grenth one after several district changes, so I moved to International LA, since they usually get it right.
